When you added the extra tubing did you notice any loss of suction on the gravel vac?
I did something similar using hoselock connectors and hose pipe, but by the time i had enough pipe to get to the drain / loo the suction on teh gravel vac wasn't enough to lift most of the crud
Wondering now whether it was the connectors that were slowing the flow if your length of pipe hasn't had any effect?
I find it adequate - there is a bit of a loss but not much at all. You need to make sure there are no loops or kinks in the tube and that you dont use any extra length than you really need. What I tend to do is a really extra thorough vac once a month when I take everything out of the tank and I put the old short tube back on and syphon it into a bucket then swop for the longer length and let the water drain down the loo for a 30% change. For the rest of the month I just use the long length for my weekly vac.
