Hi all,

currently looking to upgrade my lounge tank to a larger tank....have been asking around trying to find an "economical" 5 or 6 ft tank.

A guy I know, heard of someone whose husband had passed away and she wanted to get rid of the tank in her lounge..........they thought it was 6ft.........which would have been a squeeze, but I could just have fitted it in.

....finally made personal contact with the person.........am going to look at the tank tonight.....they apologised, but it wasn't 6ft it is 5ft (perfect for me!).....and thought it was 18 inches front to back and 20/24 high...

....and she doesn't want anything for it.......just to get rid....... :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:  :hyper:

I thought the downer was going to be the "only 1 catfish left in there".........I thought I was going to have to house a 2 ft monster......

....apparently it is only around 4 inches long.... :good: :good:

Don't want to get my hopes up.........as it does sound too good to be true.... :good:

sounds good, whats they're number i'll give them a fiver for it! ;)

haha......too far for you sorry

Although I have put lots of "feelers" out for "spare" tanks so if I hear of anything I'll post it or pm you.

There is a place that does 2nd hand tanks out our way (near Wickford in Essex), that has a Jewell 5ft x 2ft x 18inches that they are selling for £265......with filters, stand, lights, hood etc, etc....which sounds quite a good price for a fairly new tank..

Coffin.....actually LOL'ed at that ...........could be...........I'll check in the stand.....

.....if I am really lucky, it will have all the equipment with it..........but who knows..... :look:

(although I currently have a 55g with a filter running on it which I will be decomissioning...)

Oooh congrats - and I thought my 7ft tank was a bargain (free) but it doesn't have anything, not even a hood/stand with it. I'm now very jealous!

....wow...I missed that.....7ft......I wouldn't know where to put that............well I would.............but the family might disagree ....

Actually...........I would have all sorts of worries about my floor supporting a 7ft tank.......

...I have enough worries about the 5ft tank.....

u all make me sick, chattin about FISH like there people. DISGUSTIN.

am i the only one who stopped to think about the poor widow?

sorry to be a ***** but id be a little more respecting of the fact that she probably wants rid of the tank to stop the memorys of her husband and that its not actually THAT great that its available the way it is.

I often get asked to clear aviaries by widows. They were a hubby's hobby and the way I look at it is that I am taking one problem away from her at a difficult time. She has enough to deal with.

Good luck to you Ava Banana! (love the name! ) Post some pics when you can so we can all see it!
Shame about the poor lady who's tank it is but if it was her husbands she maybe had nothing to do with looking after it and would like someone else to get the enjoyment who does know how to keep it. :/

FishKing, you are a plum. Thanks for your input though.

SamUK.........no, you are not the only one thinking about the widow.......why did you think you were.......had this been a "recently deceased" forum maybe I might have posted differently, however as it is a fish forum, I am excited by the prospect of being able to get what I have been looking for and at the same time helping someone out with a difficulty.

This poor woman has been very worried since she decided to get rid of the tank in November, but not known what to do with it or its inhabitant.

I am glad that I can do her a favour (if it is unsuitable, i have offered to put it on ebay for her), and she is glad that it is not being destroyed and that it will live on with fish in it.
