Hi Guys

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend

I was hoping that someone would be able to tell me what kind of guppy this little one is. He started off really plain, I thought he was female, and then realised that he is indeed male. He has been a late developer in terms of colour, but I think his markings are very striking. I have added some photo's below (excuse the quality) but hopefully will give you an indication.

He was one of two fry that I saved from the community tank. His brother looks like wild type/Endler and is much smaller, (so I think this probably means that he is some type of hybrid).

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

Christi

It's a snake skin and got some nice marking's too developing

Yep, it's a snakeskin and judging by the faint orange and the black spot on the shoulder, as well as the size of the fins, it is an endler hybrid... very pretty fish you've got there!

Thanks Guys

I suspected as much, you can see a pic of his brother in my signature (who is definitely Endler/wild type/hybrid) lol

I presume that he would not breed true.

It's got no endler in it, just a young fish and has some more developing

Well,

I'm really not sure of the parentage, there is a wild type aspect, and probably not Endler, but Hybrid I think. Its the black spot and red colour on the body that makes me think this, plus his brother looks very wild type very small and very much like wild type Guppy photo's that I have seen, (and pointed out to me by Oldman on a previoius post))

I'm no expert though. all advice taken on board with thanks

Christi

These look a lot like a recent batch of fry of mine...nice fish if I do say so myself. lol

Thanks, I'm calling mine green cobras though I don't know how accurate that is. It seems different breeders call them by different names. I think that yours are fairly young so it wouldn't be easy to determine tail type just yet.

Those are nice looking guppies Christi. Who knows about the parentage of a fish store fish. It could be almost anything but does look very nice.

LOL.

and Today my Blue Female Guppy gave birth to about 40 fry (too many to count). They are in a 20 gallon tank (which they have all to themselves). Will be interesting to see how they turn out.
