Ideas Needed Please

If it's only a 1.5ft wide I'd question having any of the larger Sevs, and definitely not the Chocolate. I really think 2ft minimum for these fish.

I would personally be careful mixing severums, stick with red spot & gold, or rotkeil & green or even heros. The red spot & gold I have in the tank next to the rotkeils tend to do an awful lot of displaying & posturing towards each other. Spawning aggression with severums is a lot less than some other species, my Rotkeils only defend a small area around the eggs, no bigger than approx 8" square.

Again this is just my personal opinion and experience but in all my cichlid tanks now I have done away with "dithers" and aggression levels are almost none existant, just the odd chase and flaring, where with dithers I found actual lip locking fights broke out! :dunno:
i am happy just keeping the one sev, but it is my fave so would like it to be in charge!

Large Sevs means the Heros Efasciatus, which Gold, Red and Green are. A lot of websites say they average 8-12", though how long they take to actually reach their maximum size does depend on various factors.

Depending on tank decorations, and also what size your Sev maxed out at, they could be OK in your tank. Just need to bare in mind turning room as these are chunky fish. I have a Red Spot myself, who is a chunk already at just over 3".

Personally I wouldn't add anymore of the large Sevs to your tank, purely due to the width, otherwise they'd have gone well. My Red and Green Sevs are best buddies most of the time in my tank.
