To put convicts in is a waste of a good tank!
COns are awesome fish IMO they are interactive, colorful, agressive and they are fun to breed and grow to a nice size
I won't be "wasting" the 30 long on Convicts.

I've already told my fiance that I'm getting a 2O long and so, I'll put an already breeding pair from the LFS in there by themeselves with nobody else!!!!!! :kana:

So, I still need ideas on the 30 long. :D

Some nice tanganyikans would be cool

If you still want americans, I like firemouths, sevs, pikes, and keyholes.

All great fish , some of the pikes grow pretty big , and seem to be all mouth , if you catch my drift .

Severums get to about 8" +, not leaving much room either .

Tangs could work , I've never actually kept any , so my opinion stops at that .

Hey gwlee , Whatever happened with the big tank idea 125 , 75 , or was it 55 ?.

Some of these guys could be quite happy in a large tank .

With getting married soon and moving not long after that. I decided to resist the impulse to get a tank that my soon to wife and I couldn't move together. I have gotten a 29 this week for the tiger barbs (thus the empty 30 long) and am going to get a 20 long in the near furture and stop right right there for now. My fiance still thinks that building custom tanks in our house that we buy rather than rent is the way to go. If I can keep MTS under control enough to where I get small tanks I may hit the "mother lode" when we move for good.

Now, another possibility is to down size my community fish into the 30 long and that would free up the 55 creating yet another stream of options :S

Update: I moved some of my community fish into the 30 long and took the rest to the LFS where I bought my 29 gallon.

So now, we have an empty 55 gallon to fill

Thanks everybody for your suggestions and ongoing support of my fish keeping addictions

Convicts would not be a waste of a 30 gallon, MWM knows what i mean, theyre awsome fish, better than many dwarfs, or africans
