Ideas For A 25Gal

I just got a new 25 gallon tank off of craigslist and I only got it because it had a filter I wanted that was cheaper to buy with the tank.
Anyways not sure what I should do with it I'm kinda thinking planted I know lighting will be a hard because it's so deep but I will get some good lights if I go that way with it.

Any ideas what I could do with it that would allow me to keep some odd or interesting fish?

Planted, with a pair of Sparkling/Croaking gouramis and Pygmy Corries !

What are the dimensions of the tank, OP and is your water hard or soft?

I like both those fish so I will think about them to thanks for the suggestion
24 inches long, 20 inches tall, 12 inches wide. My water is a bit on the hard side.
