Ideal Tank/betta Bowl Sizes

I have also got tanks for my bettas from the local tip.....£2 or less......soak them in bleach and water give the a good scrub and then just leave water filling up and draining until the smell has gone. For covers you can get condensation lids from the lfs.

never thought of that before!

One of my bettas has 125L to swim around in and the other (breeding) has 50L. <----Thats the minimum I would keep any betta in. But thats my personal opinion.

alright everyone... you will be happy to know that my search has finally finished! i went out and searched far and wide... in a variety of stores and found some new homes for my boys.... they're just a little larger than a gallon which is pretty good... plants and new rocks and everything ^_^ i managed to get a really large cookie jar (bonus lid... just in case he's feeling like he needs to jump) and a very pretty vase... on top of that i bought transport containers that are a bit smaller but they come with lids so i'm not scared to move them into those while i change and clean their other bowls...

i'm going to change the boys into their new homes tomorrow, but i thought i would post what their new homes looked like b/c i'm really excited about it! :) thanks for all of the advice!

this is the vase:

question: i got water conditioner for the bowls and put it in the water... is it really safe to put them into the water soon after putting in the water conditioner? i've never really truly used this particular kind before... and i'm just curious :p

it is safe to use conditioned water immediately because the chlorine is removed pretty much instantly. with my 5ft tank when doing water changes i just run the hose straight into the tank and squirt the water conditioner into the tank at the beginning, no problems there!

but with my smaller betta tanks because its a whole tankful not just a 25% water change. especially at this time of year, as its cold, i let the water sit for a little while. i also mix the water with the conditioner and any meds (if using) in a bucket, and run the water in really fast from the tap. this is nothing to do with the water conditioner however, but to do with avoiding gas bubble disease. after you put the water into the tank, leave for 10 mins or so. hopefully no bubbles will build up in your tank, but if they do wait for them to disappear before you put your fish in.
