Ideal Plants For Bettas?

People have already suggested all the good plants, but I just wanted to add that my betta loves cabomba, and my kuhli loaches also love it. I think it's because it's quite dense they can curl up in it. Plants like amazon sword he's not as bothered about, in fact he ignores most of them. But all fish are different and it's a good idea to try a few different types to see what survives and what your betta likes.

Another good plant if you happen to have a tall tank , and another easy to grow one is Aponogenton Crispus. Most LFS that sell plants should stock it, though it will cost more than a bunch of Cabomba ect as it will already have roots on and be classed as a "specimen" plant. But once settled it should flower regularly ( mine does ) and does just fine under stock lighting like all the rest I mentioned. I haven't a close up picture of mine right now, so here's a page of info + pic from the Tropica website instead

Very easy to recognise by it's wavy/crinkly leaves, and it will easily reach the surface an trail along which will give some surface cover, and most bettas do like something to lurk under so this plant is perfect for building bubblenests beneath!

I would say though if you do go for this, don't plant any cabomba ect under it as it will block the light for them and they won't do so well.

Instead, the best plants to have near or under this is your Crypts, Java moss, Java fern and moss balls as these will still grow fine under some cover ( a bit like shade loving terrestrial plants do in the garden )

Two of my tanks. I've got the new silks in three of them. I really like the look =)

These are the Aqua One Plant Life range. Aquakoiaquatics on Ebay do a really good range of them.
