181 or 183 ?

Could be 181 the adults will drop the lovely strip on the tail but juvi has them only thing is it lacks the strip at the base of the tail as a juvi and it looks more blue/gray and less brown.

L183 should have a dorsal blue line that your fish lacks.

If i had to guess i would say it is neither but it is closer to 181 then 183.

It could be L181 it seems there is some variation on the dorsal fin having a blue line.

Thanks I agree. Brought them as 183 but not convinced. There is 8 soft dorsal rays

I have three L183 - nice looking fish - 'cept I only see mine once every year or two - maybe less. Last time i saw them i had moved the hardscape around and accidently disturbed them. So there is that to consider ( have 2 females and 1 male if that matters).

At least I see My l208 a few times a week something to consider.

I haven’t seen my L136 since I placed him in the tank. I bought a red light so I can search for him during the night.

While i see the adult L208 the most i have a bn (yellow) who hides in a vertical hole and always has her yellow tail standing straight up but at least her eyes are covered

Now and then i see my young L239; quite lovely but i've only seen 2 of them in the past 5 months and only once each.
