I didn't know where to post this so if it's in the wrong section the mods can move it :p

I found a picture of this fish and they had it named as a Bolivian Ram but Bolivian Rams don't have nowhere near as much colour as this thing, so does anyone know what it is?

That is the beauty of Photoshop. It is a Boliian Ram, it's just been touched up/enhanced a bit. Saying that, Bolivians are very colourful when kept properly :)

Its a male Bolivian Blue Ram, over done in photoshop lol

Altered with hormones, maybe?

"Mikrogeophagus altispinosa is a close relative of Mikrigeophagus ramerezi, but it is less popular as an aquarium fish. It is also commonly pumped full of hormones, so the small ones are often more colorful than older ones, as the hormones wear off.
Common names: Bolivian ram"

The Rams I bought today look like this, the LFS had them marked as 'Giant Rams' which put me off a bit but when I was leaving he said they are also known as Butterfly Rams.

Are they one and the same? I have been trying to get a decent pic but to no avail.

Giant Rams probably means they are adults.

Butterfly Ram is an old name for the Microgeophagus Altispinosa aka Bolivian Ram

The Ram that I believe is the male is smaller than my Black Widow Tetras and the female is smaller still. I think they are still juveniles or they are the leprechauns of the Dwarf Cichlid brigade.

My rams are nearly this bright :) Maybe not quite so in body colour, but the fins most definitely - and they're improving every day. It's definitely a photo-shopped image, but I wouldn't say it was too incredible?

Incidentally, mine were paler when they first joined us, so it isn't a hormonal thing.
