So I've been trying to find Blue Acara's everywhere and gave up on my search. Then I went into one of the big chain pet stores around to buy some conditioner and saw this fish there. It didnt look in very good shape so I figured I would try and help it out and give it a better home. Is it actually a blue acara or something else? I cant tell right now. I can get more pics if needed

Its not a ram, it seems to have some acara like traits in it.

I don't know buts it pretty. I don't think it looks much like a ram either.

Well I know Im old and my eyesight aint what it used to be, but it looks very much like my bolivian's, the eyes, the black line, the fins, the only difference is the pinker colouring, whereas mine had yellow bellies, as I say must be my eyesight.

It does appear to have some blue markings on the gill covers which is suggestive of a blue acara, but it is difficult to see, a closer shot might help.

K thats good news, the store is one of the chain stores and they had a couple fish mislabelled in there. So I just wanted to make sure. Now to get him/her healthy

Well least you found the fish you like, shame its in poor condition, but with proper care and maintenance Im sure you can make him feel a whole lot better.

yes would agree it is a young blue acara, hopefully, but those eyes wow huge, waterchange/waterchange/waterchange, good quality cichlid pellet,good tankmates should be fine in no time

yeah the eyes were the first thing I noticed, oh well, hopefully he will be fine
