I bought these fish a few weeks ago and they were listed as Diamond Sharks, growing to a max 10", I love them but would like to know more about them, google was unsuccessful.

Sorry for the poor pics, these fish are god damn fast and never stay still for a second!
Thanks

I can't seem to find it, but there was an entire post on "golden sharks" not too long ago and it seems to look like that is what your fish is.

I looked at that post and the pictures that led from it, the fish I have are similar but are definitely not the "golden sharks" as mentioned in that post. There shape is that of a bala shark, but completely devoid of any black markings, and don't appear to have any albino traits?
Any other ideas?!

Thanks!

Looks more like a golden tinfoil barb... i've got 2 of them, when it gets a bit bigger (like 2-3" in size) you should be able to see a bit of red in the tail and fins... if you do than you've got a golden tinfoil barb

think you will find its a Diamond or Golden shark. if memory serves.

Its not a barb, more shaped like a RTBS or rainbow shark, the shop said it was a diamond shark, but can't find ANY info to back this up or give me any further info about them at all.

trust me, it's long and stretched out like my golden tinfoil barbs are... it may resemel a RTBS at the moment but in the near future it won't... I'm judging this based on your pictures, get some better ones and you might have a bit more luck... ie, not so cloudy and out of focus...

It certainly looks more barb than silver shark to me. I had lemon finned barbs (similar in size and shape to tinfoils just with yellow fins rather than red) and it's very similar, although their body was silver not gold.

they are pale barbs Hypsibarbus wetmorei
get as big as tinfoils but are more skittish so prefer a tank with little or no lighting

Fresh water "sharks" aren't real sharks and are from the same family as barbs, Cyprinids.

EDIT - I agree with Wolf actually.

We have a winner!! Thanks The Wolf and everyone else for your help, I was wrong they are barbs, having looked at Hypsibarbus wetmorei they are a clear ID!! Thanks Very much guys, I will now be able to find out more about them.
