nope, thats a juvenile Astatotilapia latifasciata. enjoy them! they grow up nicely :good:

its not it looks completly different to the other 6 i have it just cant be the same species

anyone? i cant beleive its the same species as the other 6 its look completley different!

dont think its a lombardai they are distinctly blue and light blue to purpley, and the males are like an orangey colour, the banding on your fish looks really dark almost black.

:dunno: not sure about what it could be

this fish is being hard work  might venture onto a cichlid forum see if anyone there knows

Definitely not an Mbuna species but could do with another pic, preferrably side on to be sure of what it is.

ok the little bugger would not stay still but ive got a few pics from a few angles please forgive the quality

I would say it is a juvenile female Astatotilapia Latifasciata - it just doesn't look like a very healthy specimin, hence the difference in appearance to the others you have. All the markings and body shape point to A.Latifasciata.

its been separated from the others now anyway it seems to be doing fine for the moment but time will tell i suppose thanks for your help ferris :good:

Guess I'm just chopped liver :/

being an insectavore can you mix them with mbuna, would they survive on a veggy diet? what about the aggression can they deal with it ok?

It is possible to mix them with Mbuna but they are generally less aggressive and it doesn't always work. You can usually get around the feeding issue by combining the likes of brine shrimp with a veggie flake/pellet as the staple diet.
