This is the third time that my fish got the infections. I followed the directions changed the h2o 25% after every dose but my fish still has the crystals on him and it looks like he is spreading to other fish. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! Can anyone help!!

How many gallons or lites is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Are you using the full dose.
Whitespot can take two round of med sometimes.
Have you increased temp and aeration in the tank.

Have you tried putting your most infected fish in a separate tank for now? What kind of fish do you have? You could try raising the temperature of your tank to help prevent ich from multiplying (maybe like 78 to 80 degrees). Also, some aquarium salt tould be great for your fish to help aid in the medication and soothe your fish.

It could be from either over feeding or just general stress amoung your fish that causes these infections. I would just keep with the medication, raise the aquarium temperature, and do the daily water changes.

it is a 40 gal tank I have cichlids{4 and they are small} Pecos 2 and 2 red tail shark? the tank temp is at 80 and the carbon filter is out dosing 4 cap fulls of the ick salutation

You need to raise temp to 86.
Also you can't keep two red tailed sharks in the same tank as they don't get along with there own kind.
The only way you could get away with it is having a very large tank.

I've recently read that at lowered temperatures the vulnerable free-swimming stage can last as long as 96 hours: that's four full days! This might be a problem in a cool outdoor pond, but rather than drag out stressful treatment, you'll surely begin by raising the temperature in the aquarium. Adjusting the setting on the heater will do the job; don't try to raise or lower water temperatures faster than a couple of degrees an hour. Higher temperatures result in speeded-up metabolisms, both for the parasite and for the fish. Above a certain temperature (86oF is often quoted) the heat-sensitive parasite will be stressed. Its life cycle is interfered with, and it might even be killed. But if the host fish is also stressed, high temperatures can be counter-productive. You need to judge your individual species' tolerance for heat; a White Cloud Mountain Minnow or a Corydoras will be more stressed by heat than a Discus. Since at higher temperatures the water holds less oxygen, you might want to lower the water level enough to get some extra splash from the filter return.

i did this today!! but the h2o is very cloudy i have no gravel in the tank. the only thing is a couple of rocks and a plant. Also can i put rain water into the tank???

Depends with rain water how its been stored.
Parasites and also have to be careful of chemicals getting into the water if you live near farmed fields that are sprayed.
