i have a swordail that has ich ( female )

in 1 webside i found that you can treat ich by increasing the water in your tank to 30 C is this true? it says to do it over a period of time could i just set the heater on 30 and go to bed i have school 2morow?

an this harm other fish in the tank?

plz help

depending on what fish you have, it may or may not be harmful. at 82ºF (sorry i'm american) ich cannot breed, however at 86º it gets killed. i would just raise it to 82º, and maybe add non-iodized salt also. i wish you luck. btw it takes a little while for salt and heat to work.but those are the most organic ways of doing it.

yep that helps, though im not sure you can do it straight away - i took 2 days gradually increasing it to get to 30c. i know a lot of people here treat it with salt too, im sure they'll be along to help soon. i went the chemical route  and used protozin - it hasnt come back. :good:

Please read my response to your other ich request.
At 30C, a swordtail will not be easily cured of ich, it will be very stressed by the temperature. The most that I would use for any ich treatment is about 29C and a swordtail is not a fish that will do well at even that temperature. The temperature problem is simple to state. At higher temperatures, less oxygen is able to be dissolved in water and a swordtail is not well adapted to low oxygen levels. The fish are not merely uncomfortable as you or I might be in a place too warm for our liking, they are suffocating due to a lack of dissolved O2. Although the ich parasite has been shown to die off well at 30C, not all fish can tolerate that temperature.
