My setup:
   -  40g tank
   -  8 corys
   -  6 Buenos Aires Tetras
   -  1 mystery snail
   -  2 dwarf gourami (new)
   -  no live plants

Water stats:  ammonia - 0; nitrite - 0; nitrate - 40 ppm; temp - 82f

On Tuesday, while cleaning the tank discovered ich on 1 gourami and 1 tetra. I started raising the temperature and added 8 tsp salt.
So, I have a couple of questions;

1. should I continue raising the temp higher?
2. how do I manage the salt? I did a 25% water change today and I'm confused on adding salt. Do I add more each time I do a water change and how much or do I add some salt every few days?

The gourami only had a couple of spots which are now gone but the tetra looks like he's sprinkled with salt.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

i wouldn't raise the temp any higher. Most salt has instructions on the carton, but you typically replace it after every water change. It's a shame that they don't make ich tablets anymore because they always worked great for me

Yes, you only dose for the amount of water you change

You have a 40 gallon tank, You added 8 tsp salt. If you change 25% of the water you would only add 2 tsp of salt.
