pH is about 7.5 though
I don't know whether to have a discus or a gold severum or something else?
Tankmates listed in sig :good:

This is for the 55G right?

I'm afraid Ph is too high for a Discus and the tanksize is going to be too small for a severum long term

It is for the 55 gallon
I thought 7.5 was too high the discus and I hoped 55 gallon wasn't too small for a severum in its baby stages
Hmm, what other ideas do you have, you can tell the sort of cute face I'm after lol

what are the dimensions LxWxH

hmm, I'm guessing you looking for a cichlid centrepiece?
How about a Male Keyhole or a pair of Bolivian Rams? both will get to around 4"
One of the smaller species of Geophagus may be a possibility if your looking for an even larger fish,
edit :a female Gymnogeophagus balzani should be ok, but with mixing any cichlid with delicate things like bettas there would be some risk IMO

Ram's would be too small for that size of tank to be a centre piece (though I'd highly recommend them for a smaller tank-60L or less.)

What about one of the bigger gourami's Mel? Pearls maybe?

The measurements are 47 long x 21 high x 14 wide

I was thinking of a large gourami of some sort as it goes but wondered about the aggression?

I wasn't sure if keyholes were a bit small, as would be the rams, to be an actual obvious centrepiece.

Ok, in that case then I'd agree with tenohfive, no gourami comes close to the pearl IMO

I been admiring them for ages just not sure if I will find a nice big one somewhere, the hunt is on!

I have a 55 myself and was considering a pearl gourami for a centerpiece. Beautiful fish, and they really draw the eye.

I love keyholes, but they don't really make a great centerpiece. Both behavior and appearance don't tend to draw the eye the way a pearl gourami does. Maybe 2-3 angelfish, depending on the color pattern. Mine are silver and light gold, so they tend more to add some "filler" to the tank than a centerpiece. IMO, the whole idea for a centerpiece is that it's the first fish you notice when you come into the room, and draws attention to the tank.

I was about to say my betta and gouramis didnt get on, but you allready have those in together so it obv works for you :)

my betta is male though... im assuming with 8 that yours are female.

Is it right that discus prefer discus only communities? Or can you mix them? My stats arent good enough for a discus.. they arent really good enough for anything. well, now they are, but they werent.

Hope you find something purdy :)
