I Want A Betta

Aww congratulations. His colours sound nice too :)

My P@H sell females too; but they are marked.

Thanks dipsydoodlenoodle!

I've bought him some treat supplement freeze dried bloodworms! But he will be sharing the packet with some hungry young goldies and I also bought him some Hikari Bio-Gold Pellet food which was highly recommended.

Is there anyway to tell his exact age? He does look small compared to ones on google images :p

AW

The pellets are a definate plus. Mine love them :).

My goldies won't touch the freeze dried foods :(. They'll eat the frozen and defrosted ones but not the other ones.

I don't think you'll be able to accurately tell his age. Get some photos of him and people may be able to tell his age judging from his tail growth etc.

I can't get any photos of him close up. My digital camera is a bit slow and can't focus that close! I took a video and uploaded to YouTube.

He is 2 inches long including fins and body is about 1.25 inches long.
Don't know how old that is!
Does anyone have a clue?

Thanks,
AW

He has a piece of Mopani Wood in there with 2 large Java Ferns attached. Would he benefit with something fully enclosed as his home?
i.e. a terracotta pot place next to the plants and wood!

it is nearly impossible to tell the age of a betta unless you know the breeder and they can tell you when he was spawned. given the description he is at least 6 months old-fully grown and full finnage(but may grow some still).
just a caution-you should soak the freezedried foods first until they are soft-it can lead to constipation. but ok diet if you do so and mix it up with flakes and frozen foods (also a bit of cooked pea every week or so). just dont overfeed freezedried. and certainly worth soaking in some tankwater for 5 or so minutes before feeding.
cheers

Ok, I'll try and pre soak from now on. What about Hikari Bio-Gold Pellets, is it ok to just drop them straight in?
I'll do one day a week of bloodworms and a one day fast to keep his digestive system fully functional :p

Thanks,
AW

They say to soak the pellets as well since these can expand in their tummies and cause them to be constipated. My betta actually refuses to eat the pellets now. Yours is a cutie, looks like a younger version of my betta :)

you are correct. ideally, any dry food should be soaked first. anyone who has left a pellet in a tank knows how large they can get when waterlogged. when i see folks feeding their bettas 4-5 pellets a day it makes me  they really only need 2-3 every other day to stay healthy and fit. excess only leads to problems.
good luck with your fish.
cheers

Hello there, He's a pretty boy, he certainly isnt a juvenile though. Mine is a juvenile, and he is a good bit smaller. If i manage to get a video on you tube, I'll post in this thread so you can see the different....he is in a 10G also
