I've been lurking around and reading some of the great advice on offer. Its amazing how i just realised my lfs were giving advice that suited them a lot more than it helped me.

You guys however give great advice and a superb variety of opinions, which i think is really useful.

I have just started a switch from a smaller tank to a larger tank which is going to be planted and i have already taken some people's advice on here and i'm not rushing into any fish purchases until i am sure its absolutely right for what i want. So thanks already.

I think if i'd have been on here years ago i would have:
Not bought 'PH down' when i didn't need it
Not bought 10 Neons for a tank with 2 large aggressive Angel Fish (expensive food )
Not introduced 2 Clown Loach into a 2 foot tank

Saved all that money and bought a testing kit and tetra aqua safe alot earlier. Ho hum at least its good advice from here on in

Welcome to the forum Fubar.
It sounds like you are off to a good start here. At least you are recognizing that some choices we make alone are not as good as the ones we can make with a bit of advice. Compatibility issues and water issues make up the largest fraction of real troubles people have. Many of the rest are related to foods and feeding. The real disease problems that are not easily taken care of turn out to be thankfully rare.

I don't know how common this is, but i have gone from casual novice about 6/9 months ago to quite obsessive knowledge hunter over the recent weeks. Its caught a few of my family off-guard that i am taking it soo much more seriously than i used to. I have just got annoyed with the advice i got from local "professionals" and went on an info hunt.

I love that there is no set way to do anything and people have become very creative and innovative with every aspect of fish-keeping. I am fully adicted to the DIY section already. And i am about to collect my first classified purchase from a fellow TFF member, YAY!
