Hi all.
I was doing a 100% water change for my betta Dickens today.
I hate using the net/scoop, but it's the only way I can catch him.
I think he got stuck in the netting today though.
I went to transfer him into his temporary home while I cleaned and he didn't bolt like a bat out of hell out of the net when I set it in the water, so I was concerned.
He was twitching and such, but not coming out.
So I gently tugged on the top of the netting to try and loose him.
He finally came out, but he's been acting kind of weird ever since.
When I put him back in his actual tank, he swam around very quickly along the bottom, kind of tilted to his side.
Then he hung out in a bottom corner, only coming up for air, which he did a lot more than I've ever seen him do.
I also made his water just slightly warmer, but I've changed it back to the regular temperature because I was afraid from his behavior that it was too warm.
He's hanging around the top like he usually does now that the waters a bit cooler, but now that I've had a chance to look at him, it looks like one of his ventral fins (are those the skinny things that kind of hang by the belly? I'm working off a diagram, lol) looks just ever-so-slightly curled at the tip and is a bit shorter than the other side.
I was worried I might have hurt his dorsal fin as well, so I showed him his reflection to get him to puff up.
Puff up he did, and now he won't stop, even after I removed the mirror.
I don't know if I riled him up to where he thinks he's in constant danger now or if he's just feeling a bit cocky, but I'm worried about him.
Anything I can do?
I'll try and post pictures if I can find batteries.
Stupid camera and its need for power.
