I think my gourami has the skimmies

Sounds like a slight swim bladder problems feed some shelled peas, and frozen daphnia, also with him having whitespot a salt bath will help in both cases, do you have epson salt if not normal salt will do, one tablespoon to the gal, also you will have to introduce some frozen foods and veg into his diet as to many dried foods can cause constipation and swim bladder problems.

I have aquarium salt, will that be ok? And on the box it says 1/2 a teaspoon for gallon should I use that much? And will it be ok to use that with the medicine I'm using which is nox-ich? And would a lps sell frozen food? And I don't have peas or that dapinea will it go away if I fast him for a couple days?

Use the aquarium salt follow the instructions,do you have any canned peas, or any other vegatables in the house, don't no about frozen foods where you live, but you could ask.

No I don't my family doesn't eat peas. So would fasting him do the same thing? And I know your supposed to do a water change every 3 to 4 days with the salt and I didn't think you were supposed to do water changes when treating a fish with medicine.

If the constipation is severe and this treatment did not work and the fish seems to be stressed, it can be treated with cod liver oil. Net the fish and place it on a clean wet towel. Place two drops of cod liver oil in the mouth of the fish and place the fish back in the main tank. DO NOT KEEP THE FISH OUT OF THE WATER FOR MORE THAN ONE MINUTE. Do not feed the fish for two days after this treatment.
Not the writer of this information.

Well would canned peas work? If so how do I give it to him, do I squish it up or give it to him hole?

Yes that will be fine squish it between fingers and give it to him.

Sorry to keep bothing you all but do I just give him one squished pea and stop or do I give him one a day until his stomach returns to normal. And do I have to warm the pea up at all?

Give him another pea in a few hours time, if there canned no don't have to warm it up, that's just for frozen peas, give him another one tomorrow and see how he goes, good luck.

Well I haven't got any peas yet but when I do I'll let you know how he's doing in a few days with the constipation and the ich.

I've got bad news the gourami died. :byebye: :byebye: :byebye: I think it was because of the salt that somebody recommended :grr:

You took the advice you were given, you didnt have to.
1/2 a teaspoon of salt per gallon is certainly not enough to kill a fish even a sick one.
Seems the salt didnt make that much difference as your gourami had a lot of problems at once. Most likely his immune system couldnt take the parasites, or a bacterial disease.
Take a closer look at your husbandry before going off at someone trying to help you. :grr:

I'm very sorry :byebye: I guess I should have calmed down before I posted. Please forgive me.

Its ok, i know things are said in the heat of the moment and i'm sure wilder wont take it to heart.
Sorry your fish didnt make it.
