I Seen This Rather Small Tank

yea he asked for help but he didnt listen to much if it when it was given and even added an extra plec when he was told he was overstocked.

he may have sorted it now but thats only after he was told about 10 times.

J4MES is totally right to make sure hes sorted his other problems before taking on more work.

anyway, black molly id look on ebay cos even £30 seems a bit much for a 4g. sure you can find a better deal but then again if its all in and ready to collect as new i guess it mite be worth it for less hassle.

If you'll go back to that other post of BlackMolly, you find that no one would even answer his question with anything but criticism about how many fish he had in his tanks. I found the posts in that thread rude also. It was kinda like "take back some of your fish or we won't answer your question" - very childish. It's just another example of a lot of folks assuming his fish were unhappy & unhealthy simply because he had too many, they were too big, or would get too big.. He's listened to your advice, but it could have been done in a much more polite manner than people telling him he'll get no answers till he takes back some fish. It's that childish "play by my rules or I'll take my ball & go home" attitude that you see too often in forums. I'm sorry, but I see this happening too often and it really gets me aggravated.

calm down every one i need to ask another question.
do you know when i get this 3-4 Gal tank i read that the water has to be mature
for the little guy and should be left with nothing in for atleast 9 weeks apart from plants.
do you think because my tank is mature enough i should add like 500ml of my tank water
into it to speed the cycle up.
just wondering
thanks

try adding filter media into the tank as that will help. also if you can, add a few small hardy fish for a few days(gupies, platies, etc) as this speeds up the cycling process.( i know somepeople dont agree with fish cycling, but im just giving black molly the options) or crushed up flakes in the tank will help. i read somewhere that uneaten food will rot, causing the tank to cycle or whatever, anyway, i did that and it seemed to work. adding the water probally wont help, tank water holds little bacteria because its mostly on the plants/gravel/decor/filter/etc.

good on you black molly for fighting back :good:
by the way you typed this message its clear your all excited about it and thats the way you should be......enjoy
these are the funniest little fellows ive ever seen and if i had the space and the same size tank i would defo be getting it all set up and working. a tank that size wont take long to cycle without fish....maybe someone could confirm that if possible

J4MES your not usually like this, having a wierd moment mate -_- would you rather someone make a mistake and ask questions later when the fish are in some sort of danger or would you rather the more mature approach of seeking advice first

Hi. I'm settled down now I think :) Question for you folks that have puffers. Will they eat freeze dried bloodworms, etc. or is it strictly live or frozen? I had a puffer once when I was very young and didn't know the requirements (the internet wasn't available 50 years ago, and neither was a lot of good information!), and the poor thing didn't last long. I am interested in keeping them though, but I always research the needs of a fish now, so that I can avoid losing any fish. Thanks for any feedback.

i read that they are carnivorous eat live and frozen food, like small snails cockle and mussles chopped up into small enough bits

Hi & thanks Modaz. I was really wondering about the freeze-dried foods. They would be nice to use if a person ran out of live food or frozen & couldn't get to a lfs soon. But the freeze-dried are just that - a dry version of bloodworms, tubifex worms, shrimp, etc. But they aren't really the same as live or frozen. If the puffers won't eat normal dry flake food I'm wondering if they'd eat the dried versions of these live food types? I'm guessing no, but thought I'd try to find out.

whoops sorry
i would guess that they would eat it after a while....worth a try if the occasion arised]

i had a green spotted puffer in a 11 GAL tank once by himself called pierre. i used to get snails of my friend
because he had atleast 200 in his tank haha and feed him them. they were usualy gone before they hit the ground.
he loved them i used to feed him cockel. unfortualy he died when i was away because of a stupid jewel heater.
it turned its self off.
i think i will leave this little tank for about a month and a half mabee 2 months before i put le peche in it (ive
decided to call him that because its french for fishing haha)
has anyone got any tips on how to keep these lil vicious things happy
thanks

no a dwarf puffer
not tomorrow though.
also another question. are they rare because i dont want to get my hopes up
and they are quite hard to get hold of. this article on the internet said petsmart breed them
but there isnt one no were near me i dont even know where one is.

Umm don't you think you should be getting a 400G+ tank for all the fish you already own?

J4MES

Sorry James but those comments are bound to put peoples back's up. You've told me in the past that I should have a 300gal tank for 3 clown loaches?? Not quite right really, maybe it's best to keep it to yourself..Please don't take this the wrong way but it put my back up at the time :grr:
Not a problem now though :p
