i treated alfie last week for body fungus with maracyn it cleared up.now it's has
returned as strong or worse and the maracyn is again in use.well what i don't believe i saw is alfie's tank companion is a ghost shrimp who is attaching itself to alfie,i wondered if it was eating the fungus or the fish or both. i use a magnifying glass for closeup inspections and alfie is being cannabilized! i put him in a hospital container and will treat him in there would coopersafe+salt do any good?life is not a dress rehearsal. :*)

try useing a combination of marcyn and marcyn II

It may be columnaris often miss diagnosed as fungus. In which case the marcyn will cure the growth on the fish while marcyn II destroys it in the watter I had a fish die from columnaris recently and only treated with marcyn, but I had fry in that tank that were perfectly healthy and just moved some other fish in. Now I notice columnaris on extra food particles in the tank it has me worried a little but the fish seem fine, I will bleach the entire tank out within two weeks

alfie didn't survive the culumnaris.i'm going to remove the ghostshrimp and redo the tank. thanks for your help vantGe :rip: i was into fish a long time ago and forgot what a frustration it is to keep fish healthy....like they say if at first you don't succeed try,try try, try, try again*

I am so sorry for your loss. I just lost 2 out of 3 betta females from Columnaris....it was awful.

I too am sorry for your loss. Columnaris is really mean. I lost 3 girl bettas to it not too long ago. I have to say good on you for not giving up. Fish keeping can be really rewarding when things work out. And a little addicting too. Good luck next time around.
