ok a week or so ago i posted asking what would be comp with discus and you guys were very helpful but i'm now considering getting a school of cories
its a deep tank (built for discus) about 200litres and here's how i'd like it:

Heavily planted!
black sand sub.
eheim ext filter
4 discus
6 cories
10 black tetra
maybe a couple of german blue rams(?)

i reckon that'll be all but the guy has 7 discus a couple clowns and a city of tetra in there so not sure on the stoking as of yet.

if anyone got any comments or suggestions i'd appriciate the feedback...

Hey, sounds like its gonna be a very nice set-up when up and going... but onje question just to clarify...

What do u mean by this?

"i reckon that'll be all but the guy has 7 discus a couple clowns and a city of tetra in there so not sure on the stoking as of yet."

So is there fish already in the tank?

add more discus...maybe 2 more?
they feel more comfortable in groups of 6,

sounds like an awsome set up

DD

i think the discus, cories, and tetras would be good on their own. adding in the german rams would distract from the discus (who are supposed to be the big show). its the same principle as an Amano tank--several of just a few species is more striking and elegant than just a few of several species.

less is more!!

Clowns.....clown loaches? If that's what you mean, I wouldn't mix them with discus. Their constant activity (playing and frolicking) would drive your discus crazy. Stress is not good when it comes to discus. Cories and tetras are good choices, but the best choice would be just discus!

yeah its a mate at work who is upgrading to a 5 foot tank and i'm getting this for £40 with heater, stand and 3 individually switched lights in the hood!

i'm not gonna keep clown loaches as of what i've heard, the rams were a maybe, i think just the 3 species in there is enough now

so would 6 discus be ok in that?

i'll set up a tank diary when i get it going as i'm gonna start completely over

Hi silvershark :)

Most corys cannot tolerate the high temperatures that discus require. However, there is one that is frequently kept as a companion fish in discus tanks, the C. sterbai.

This is a very beautiful cory and is becoming popular and less difficult to find. Here's a link with more information about them:

If you decide on them, do take care that the substrate you choose has rounded edges to prevent damage to their delicate barbels. :D

hi there,
i did actually have one (i know, i needed more) and think they're one of the nicest but he/she died, i think the sand i changed to may have been a bit coarse so i'm gonna shop around when i get the new tank

thanks!
