I purchased an injured Cherry Barb

I got a Cherry Barb today (well I got several) & fish lady was struggling to catch them & kinda bashing net about. I think she injured one or she just gave me an injured one.

It's swimming a bit tilted to it's good side and has a white area that looks injured. Swimming about lots but definitely injured. I'll try get video later. Other than clean water is there something else I should do?

It's a silent cycle tank and this is first lot of fish. 10 Cherry Barb only went in today.

Nitrite 0
Nitrate about 5-10ppm

GH 14
Tank 36" x 12" x 18" & 127 litres

I think that fish is better off with you than left in a LFS. You’ve access to some of civilisations finest minds on here. Mine as well.

It looks like her right eye is bit swollen, then bigger than usual red patch at gill and that white patch. She's very fast so tricky to get good pics

Shop is shut until tomorrow. Is she safe with the others is my only concern. I don't need all 10 wiped out if it's not an injury.

Would not attempt to catch this fish again to LFS as Colin T suggested, not particulary helpful really, as I do think its an injury rather than some disease but hard to tell exactly.
Catching it again will only stress it out even more and possibly tip it over the edge past recovery.
So just keep an eye on it and hope it will make it, think if it makes it after 24 hours, it has a chance.

Did the LFS charge you for this fish?

If so, show them this video and ask if you can have another cherry or refund for this as it was the staff that injured the fish, not you. Worth a try!

Yeah. Take the video in to the lfs and they may give you a free barb. You’ll then have eleven. A football teams worth! Call her Mrs Keane or Mrs McCarthy or Mrs Brady or just plain old Barbie.

Theres nothing on tv at the moment.....can everyone tell?

I don't think she has a disease. It looks more like her side may have gotten scraped by the net. Bringing her back to the store might just kill her, and I don't think it's necessary. I would just keep the water clean and see if she heals. Make sure she's eating and swimming with the other fish.
Show the video and the pictures to your LFS. Have them refund your money. If she does die, (which I hope she doesn't) ask them to give you a replacement.

Ah I don't think it was intentional. She just wasn't experienced. They are €3 each or 5 for €12. So 2 of the fish are free plus they'd a 20% discount offer. I paid €20 for 10 fish and happy with that. I don't wanna return her because I do think it'd stress her.

I'll try get her back to health here in the lovely big clean tank.

She's swimming with the gang and really fast even if a bit wonky. I can relate
