I Need Therapy. I've Got The Fish Bug !

I would go with the mid life crisis explaination, it's worked for me & my 18 tanks so far. The progression is a rather long & twisted story, but in the long run aquatics is more socially acceptable than fast cars & wild woman.

Can agree with you there.............2 years ago I ordered a brand new Ford Falcon XR6 Twin Turbo (special make) running @ 350 Kilowatts...............I thought that was a midlife crises.......at least thats what the wife said.......
So in good stead, I started bonzai and love that and currently do that as well...........now the proud father of 5 Bonzai......

Well of course I just can't help myself and move to stage 92 and now going into Tropical Fish..........
Just today I purchased a new Aqua One CF 1000 external canister filter together with a 300 Watt Aqua One Heater.....would you believe it, my tank is still at least 4 - 6 weeks away......

Picking up 40 kg of gravel on Saturday as well...............
Finished setting up my new gravel vac and extended the PVC pipes so that the tank water will straight onto my plants (most important as we have serious drought here in Melbourne at the moment......) Was only 44.2 degrees celcius here yesterday with a hot week coming up.......

Add to this numerous books I've purchased over the past week..............its becoming very scary........

i have a 65 litre tank and i was wonderin how many livebearers can i have in there. help me please

this thread needs taking up again as its so comical, love the bit about buying a big tank then just having to go out and get a small one!!

i have 4 tanks in the lounge,a 4ft in the hallway, a 4ft in my sons room, and another hidden in the wardrobe(empty),like a dirty secret that has to be hidden lol,im constantly looking for more,
when i bought my 2nd tank,i had a massive craze on buying wooden thomas the tank trains for my 3yr old son- he has every building .train, over 500 pieces of wooden track, and tables to play on with them, easily £750 worth...but OH NO that all got banished to the bedroom ( was my absoloute pride and joy) as my new tank had to take its place in the lounge where i could "keep my eye on it"
its a good job that my house is a new build (basicaly made from cardboard- with paper walls.and pretend floors) or i would have that 550 litre tank that i saw on ebay...
i keep telling the kids that as soon as i have got my self established in the hobby i will sell them all and just get one not tooo large tank..... but me being "not the sharpest knife in the drawer ;) who knows when that could be :shifty:

would love to hear more of these stories

Mine all started when i was talking to my friend on skype, he goes im gna get a fish tank (at this time my money was just wasting away on pizza hut ect) so I went out and bought a 60 litre, Now im in planning for a 450 litre......Its worse then Heroin or Tobacca, those people think they got it hard, I challenge them to get a fish tank and break the addiction :p

mine started with a 20L tank about 6 months ago, within a week we had bought a 100L tank ................ now over £1000 poorer we have a 240L comunity tank, a 100L Plec only tank, a 60L bristlenose breeding tank, a big vivarium with 3 whites tree frogs and another spare 100L sat in the cupboard upstairs

the other half has put her foot down now and said no more tanks untill we get a bigger house :(

 I have the fever and am totally hooked. I love the hobby and am always reading and coming up with ideas on how I'm going to design my next tank. I have four tanks and I redo the stands and the trims in a shabby chic do. I love the creative part of it and I love my fish.
