What stated out as a small family Xmas present has now taken off to a point of an addiction.

Not only have we just purchased the 7 Gallon tank, I've now ordered a new 54 Gallon tank, ordered a new AquaOne External CF1000 Filter, Lighting, Moonlight, etc etc

Worse still, today during my lunchbreak I went to the bookstore in Melbourne and purchased the Encyclopedia of Aquarium Plants.
I did not stop there. I then went to another bookstore and purchased The Aquarium Fish Handbook with color photos of all 600 tropical fish with complete details.......

I need therapy.............mid life crisis perhaps !!! ummmmm :hyper:

you got it wrong g guy! Its the people who don't keep fish that need therapy :hyper: :hyper:

seeee mts

i'd put money on you having at least 1 more tank (in addition to the little one and the one you've just ordered) by the end of 2007 ;)

Wife is really worried now..............:(

Almost in a panic state....................

If I keep this up, I'll be sleeping with the fishies..............now theres a thought.......Is there a tank big enough that can house a Queens size bed?? hahaha

I think you are on your way to your first fish house mate. I love Melbourne by the way especially the trams but i never checked out any fish stores there, perhaps you can enlighten us and tell us what is on offer.

Fish-keeping in definitely addicting!! My new 44-gallon started as a Christmas present -- a replacement for a 10 gallon. It's still cycling so I can't even get more fish, but I've somehow managed to spent several hundred dollars on decorations and reference books. I can't imagine how much I'm going to spend when I can buy fish!! BUT I did mention to my husband that I'd love to make the old 10 gallon a beta tank, and he didn't say "no!"

Dutchie, we just need to convert our spouses from merely tollerant observers to full-blown fish enthusiasts!

Indeed it is. It all started with my eldest son wanting a small tank for his bedroom. I finally relented and bought him one, just a starter tank.

Eventually we moved it into the lounge, then we upgraded to a 60 litre, and now I'm just cycling my brand new 260 litre Fluval Vicenza. I must say that my son's "hobby" has now become my obsession, and my husband is also very enthusiastic about the new tank. He helped me set it up, wash the sand and put in the ornaments, etc.

He listened patiently as I explained the cycle process to him, and he has even written up a timetable for us to follow with our weekly maintenance, water changes, etc. He bought home, from work, three 25 litre tubs with lids for us to get the fresh water ready when we do the changes, and is always asking me how the new tank is doing!

I'm hooked. I set my tank up four months ago. I have learnt sooooooooo much since then. Why is it we all buy the biggerst tank we can then fancy buying another small one strange.....one is never enough. I want a small aqua one tank 28l. :hyper:

I would go with the mid life crisis explaination, it's worked for me & my 18 tanks so far. The progression is a rather long & twisted story, but in the long run aquatics is more socially acceptable than fast cars & wild woman.

 I agree 100%!!! I've only got 4 tanks right now (soon to be 5) but when I'm out on my own, my house will be full of tanks :D going to set up a couple 90 gallon breeding tanks in the basement of the house I live in  I'll make em myself out of glass or acrylic, cheaper that way... I think :p

 - and cheaper (just)

am i allowed my mid life crisis at 24?? i am getting quite upset that i'll be a quarter of a century old in 6 months.... that's cause for a mid-life crisis and therefore more tanks right??

I'm definitely addicted! I got my first tank the 55g a little over a year ago, then I got a 10g and put guppies in there, got another 10g and put platies in there, then got a female betta and a crowntail betta, had GSP's for a couple months, had to take them back so, now there's a 29g, and another 10g that contains my female betta and a new male betta i got about a week ago.

He He .... im hooked !!!!!
nothing better than sitting down with a glass of red watching the tank!!! Misswiggle you get better with age hun!!! im 42 and happier than i ever was at 25!!!!!!!!
