any ideas on atmosphere for a new fresh water fish tank, i dont really like the fake plant look, but then again i dont want to spend too much, also i was thinking about guppies, and a couple cories to start off with in the 30 gallon, 16 in. in depth, but i havent set it up yet -_- ..... and its driving me crazy :fish: !

also does anyone have an opinion whether or not i should go with, sand, gravel, barebottom, or polished rocks? ????

thanks :)

Hello!

well, you gotta make your own choices about the fish. Uusually for every tank Sand Substrate is a good choice.

how about you buy some real plants and put them in front, and put the plastic ones in the back.

Well if your going to do guppy's, do males or youll have 10000 baby's, and Really it doesnt matter IMO if you use sand or gravel, but if you whant corries, I would go with black sand, so then, the guppy color will stand out and not get killed by colored gravel/sand and your cories can have their natural burrowing in the sand, and what I would do is like do a mix of fake and real, i sugest the ancharious, an awsome plant that grows tall and easey, I have about 15 in my 29gall that cover the top and back, take a look, it in the sig, but ya, thats just what **I** would do, its YOUR tank so do whatever you whant :)

oh I meant the colors would not be great at all if you had other color when i said "or else they will be killed" sorry if i confused you!

I agree with fishie bird on black sand, keep it in my tank fish colors are awsome. As for plants like retardo said a combo is great. Why not a couple of nice pieces of driftwood for the corys? Mine love them. Anyway, good luck.
