I recently upgraded from a 29g to a 125g tank for my pleco, Chupa.  The aquarium I found at a steal of a price ($700) came completely stocked with [among others] 5 Silver Dollars.

I really like the look of Silver Dollars, but they're killing my plans to have a planted aquarium.  They're like waterborne lawnmowers.

Is there any hope of keeping a live planted tank without me replanting every day?

Are there any plants Silver Dollars won't eat?

Can I have anything other than silk and plastic plants with these things around?

I believe that java fern, anubias and java moss are safe. There may be others, but most fish won't eat those I listed.

I stumbled upon an article about water lettuce, which later led me to this article about invasive aquatic plants.

What this got me thinking to ask is, "What are the fastest-growing aquatic plants?  Is it plausible to have plants which simply grow faster than the Silver Dollars consume?"

Nope. they eat once every 4 hours. I would skip the java fern, anubias and the moss. silver dollars are not picky and will eat any plant they come across. You could try making a refugium. It is sort of a sump tank with plants. best of all it lowers nitrate and nitrite levels

Well darn.  That's what I have now.  The 29g was lightly planted, so I left it alone and set it up as the refugium.  I figured that was also the only way I'd keep my snails alive with the two Clown Loaches in the big tank.

Thanks.  I think I might try cultivating an entire aquarium worth of plants separately then try to super plant the whole thing all at once.  If I keep supplementing them with lettuce and algae wafers and all the other stuff they seem to enjoy right now, maybe I'll get lucky.
