I Need A Little Help

Hey. I not a new comer when it comesa to fish, but everyone needs a little help right? I've been tring to get my Red Tuxedo Xiphophorus maculatus (aka Platy) to mate. The ph is perfect, the water is fine, there is nothing that could possible be wrong. I've got them to breed in the past, and it has been sucsessful. I really have no clue what could be wrong. Please help. =)

How old r ur fish?
If they r to old they don't tend to mate as much.
Try feeding them richer foods for a bit to condition them, eg. Bloodworm

Welcome to the forum SethTyler.
It is indeed unusual to have trouble getting a platy to mate. Often it is hard to stop them. You say that you have perfect water for them but I must ask what you mean by that. Are you talking about specific values of hardness or some other factors?
I would ask what you are feeding them and how much room they have. I am also curious about the other fish that share their aquarium.
Why do you think that they are not mating? Is it just that you are not seeing any fry in the tank?

By my meaning of the water being perfect, I mean that it is in perfect

condition. The ph is exactly as thay desire. They arn't very old, the male is around 4 months, and the female was born in March of this year. I am feeding them Hikari flakes, it is a very good food for them. Because Platies are livebearers it is easyier to identify the fry, and there are not any.

Maybe the platy or other tankmates are eating the fry! DO the female platy ever look pregnant?​

I don't think that the other fish would be eating the fry. I check on my fish quite often check for fungus, disese, ect. Awhile back before I knew very much there was a fry. It was in there for around two weeks before i decided to do some research, then i put it into a breeding net, and now it is healthy and swimming among the other fish. I do beleive that the fish could be pregnant, her underbelly is begining to darken so the chances are high. The fry that is now fully grown, i beleive it is a hybrid, because my female Red Wag Platy bred with a Sunset Platy, but the appearence is of a Red Wag. Recently I purchased another Red Wag Platy, one that was a male. The two have soon grown ond withe achother and are never apart, I have a feeling that they will breed. I am very hopeful.

I also did a quick thread myself, on mollies specifically, that I have linked in my signature area. That link is called My Molly's Progress. Either one should help you identify what stage your female is at.
