provided the fish you purchased was a red robin (honey) gourami and not a red dwarf then yes they are the same species, colisia chuna

He's not a dwarf gourami he's a different shape and my male dwarf dont mind him being in the tank
got a pic of him - not clear as normal camera on charge but hopefully you can see him -- why is he slightly a different shape then the other honeys is one a manmade version?

It looks like a Red Honey Gourami which also comes under Colisa chuna.

ok more question lol - sowwie -
i am right in asuming they can breed then?

MS BRAIN need to ask questions so i can look at them another time and remember

Don't apologise, that's what the forum's about.
I shouldn't see any reason why they couldn't breed as they are the same fish, just a different colour.

thanks hun - going to get 2 more red honeys and make the group 3 red and 6 of the others - cos they all love swimming together ;)

Sounds good!
You do realise that we'll need to see pics of your cosy little shoal....

OMGosh! That is the most beautiful red I have ever seen in a gourami. If my screen colors aren't messing with me, that is. I must needs be off to find one!
