I Just Opened A Big Box Of Sad Disapointment

I received my Blueberry Shrimp today in the mail. When I opened the box it smelled terrible and all the shrimp were dead. The water was pink and smelled bad and most of the shrimp had disintegrated into mush. I'm so disappointed and I feel terrible for the little guys!

They were also all read instead of blue. Do they turn that color when they die? Even the ones that hadn't quite turned to mush were red, not death pink, but red.

They did an excellent job with the packing I just think the Post Office handled them wrong, or they got too cold, cause the heat pack had died.

My other shrimp, 20 red cherries, arrived just fine and they didn't have a heat pack.

did you take a pic of the sealed bags? becasue you might be able to get a refund if they have a DOA thing

That's a shame about the shrimp, I would get on to the person you got them from and let them know that the shrimp arrived dead, it may mean that in future you need to ensure that any shrimp are sent express post. Also the supplier may be willing to work out a replacement deal with you.

Not sure about blue ones turning red when they die but most other shrimp no matter their live colour do turn pink/ red on death.

It important to let the seller know, not only for replacement, but to avoid this happening to other livestock / buyers again......

I notified the seller immediately after receiving the shrimp. Just forgot to mention that when I posted the thread.

I got a full refund and will probably wait until spring to get another shipment.

I think it could have been the lack of something to hold on to that caused them to die. The only thing in the bag was an inch long piece of plant that had no leaves or anything long enough to hold on to. I doubt it was the heat pack since the ones that came all the way across the country had no heat pack and arrived just fine. The live order also was in a Kordon Breather Bag, which I'm sure made a big difference.
