I Just Been Given Some Angels, and Everything Has Changed!

Well clearly my preference is for rainbowfish, not a tetra fan myself. Dwarf neon rainbows (praecox), boesemani are exceptionally stunning fish and you could have a nice sized group in your tank.

Otherise, congo tetras are nice, in a large group not too skittish, bleeding heart tetras are also colourful, both of those not too nippy either.

You dont have to add dithers, I just find they liven the tank up a bit as the cichlids tend to stay near the bottom of the tank, unless feeding.

how many rainbow fish could i have and how big do they get? im sure the lfs has them definatly.

congo's are pretty big arnt they? and look just silver,YUK!!! lol

Male congos are very pretty, but yes the females are dull reach around 5", but thats the same for rainbows, boesemani max out at 5", more likely 4", praecox, 3", with praecox Id say around 8 -10, boesemani, 6 - 8.

i just got 10 x praecox :hyper:

so my stock will now be:

4 GBR's
6 Gold Ram's
5 keyholes
1 L134 leopard frog plec
10 dwarf neon rainbows
2 Apistogramma viejita 2
6 c.similis corys
3 sterbai corys (due to be going to pipdoddle this weekend)
3 panda corys (due to be going to pipdoddle this weekend)

with hopefully space left for the 2 Aureus's

does this sound ok,not overstocked and not asking for trouble? once i have the aureus's i think that will be me done and happy

i was just going to ask, does there need to be any male to female ratio with these dwafr neon rainbows?

Ideally, 1m - 2f, easy to sex too, males will be rounder bodied and have red edging on their tails, females duller and orange edging on the tails, slimer too.

But it doesnt really matter, you could have all males, or all females, or a combi of both.

Stocking sounds good, aureus will be fine in there too :good:

them dwarf rainbows were a good choice!!

they are in the tank and add some more colour which is great

its strange to see things swimming so high, lol

Yeah they are lovely fish, as they get older, they will really colour up too.
