back ground on, filter set up - - now the process of filling it with water!!!!

wish I had bought a hose attachment before now - - but atleast I will be getting my work out in - - a 3 gallon bucket and a 72 gallon tank - - lets go!

The fiance and I went to the pet store today and spent $130 on decor - - we couldn't resist! We decided that we wanted to have a tank that reminded us of a little pond

Yea, my fiance had never had a fish until we moved in together.


now he has fallen in love with goldfish and my frogs.

I used to keep the calico fantail in her own 30 g, then someone dropped off a "feeder" they didn't want so he camped out with the fantail for a few weeks while I was figuring out what to do with him - - well, problem solved!! the goldfish are large enough where the ACF show no interest in eating them

and now he wants "just one more fish" - he went looking yesterday and brought me over to a tank...with a JD. I told him if he could find a decent sized goldfish, that was fine - - but I am not setting up an aggressive system inside my frog tank!! haha

So do your frogs not need heated water then? Just because goldies are coldwater fish but I'd have thought, coming from Africa, that the ACF would need their water heated?

Looks good though! how many more frogs are you hoping to get to add to your three? And will you go for all female ones or will you get another male as well? Do male ACF fight? I don't really know anything about them! read your breeding thread though

ACF actually thrive in cooler to sub tropical temps, which makes "older" (read - no longer meal sized!) goldfish ideal tank mates, and adds a bit more movement and color to the mid and upper levels of the tank

I currently have 5 frogs in this tank - - 1) My breeding marbled male "Phantom" 2) Albino Female "Kirby" 3) Albino Female "Phoenix" 4) Albino Juveline 5) Leucistic Juvenile

In a ten gallon I have two more who are too young to go in with the adults because ACF will cannibalize smaller frogs 1) marbled 2) albino

And I just ordered two more form Xenopus.com .... I went for color morphs that are rare and not found in the local fish stores - - 1) Reticulated Albino male 2) Borealis Female (looks similar to marbled but slightly different colors)

So all together I will have 9 frogs in the tank . ACF are very sociable and do not display any territorial tendencies at all. They can be kept in any type of grouping - all males, all females, mixed. They are much more active when kept in a multi-frog tank than when they are kept singly.

I have 5 in there now, 2 growing up in another tank, and 2 that I just ordered today which will be shipped out on Monday and arrive on Tuesday

The reticulated albino was $35 and the borealis was $25....not including shipping lol. but ohwell - - I have been after different color morphs, especially a reticulated albino, for months!
