Finally got them home at the weeekend :D

At the moment I have 6 in my tank (60L biorb modified for sand with an Eheim Aquaball filter) and am watching to see if I get a pair or two. The others will then be returned.

I'll let the pics do the talking :D

They went straight into the shells or under them  but they're venturing out and establishing territories now :D

The distortion of the Biorb is maddening when trying to take photos of the fish  The footprint isn't anywhere near as miniscule as it looks from the pics either!

I sat watching them for a few hours on Saturday, and there is major showing off going on with a touch of face biting! It's quite alarming to see but no damage is done miraculously! They're lovely little fish and I really hope I get a pair or two. If not, I'll take some back and source some from another area

I don't know very much about multies, but it looks good! They are cute! I hope you do get a pair or two :good:

When i was trying to source Multi's, i read several times that one male will breed with every avalible female. Is that true?

A male can have a harem of females, that much I do know. At the moment everyone is arranging their shells as they want them. Piles of sand are appearing all over the place and rocks and shells are being moved and/or buried.

They are so fascinating to watch! :hyper:

Congratulations on the multies! They look great! :hyper: I can't wait till I get mine now... :shifty: Have fun watching them rescape the tank to their liking.

:hyper: Ive been looking for Multies for the past couple of months now...but my LFS never has them :(
Maybe ill find tehm someday..

A couple of promised video clips for you...not brilliant but they give you an idea of the tank and the fish :D

Just out of curiosity and for research purposes, what is the aprox. footprint of your tank? - in diameter I guess since it is round lol! The muties look great btw - love the video.

I'll have a check tonight Larissa :D

I managed to cpature them in the act of sand spitting so I'll try and pop that up tonight :hyper:

They've all settled down now and utilise a fair bit of the middle water as well. I think they've finished moving shells and sand about too :D Just waiting to see if any fry appear.

I was just wondering about the sexing...it seems to me that 4 of the fish have chosen their specific shells and 2 seem to guard non shell areas (not that there aren't enough shells - the tanks filled with them). Is there a definate hard and fast rule about who lives in the shell ie females or males? I've read/heard conflicting reports. One says the males have the shells and lure the female inside and another says the opposite
