Fishaholic
hey guys. i came home tonight and right away something looked wrong in my parent's cichlid tank. most of the fish were at the surface of the water, hiding behind the filters in vertical position and/or looking scared in general. i noticed that a couple of the fish had very strong coloration and, unlike everyone else, didn't seem stressed at all. so i sit down to look at the fish up close and something moving in the sand catches my eye...there were several 1-2mm baby fish swimming near the sand!
the most amazing part of it all, besides the small tank and overpopulation of aggressive tankmates, were the parents in my opinion. I believe the father is the Trimac that I bought at the GCAS auction a few months ago, and the mother is the much smaller Salvini that was bought at a LFS back in august of last year. im not sure of the parents' roles, may have them reversed, but those two are definitely the parents. the salvini is scaring everyone away, while the much larger trimac keeps scooping up the fry and putting them inside the sunken ship they've made into a nest!
what do i do? those two have about killed one of my jewelfish (probably wont make it even though I moved her out of the tank) and are constantly chasing everyone else...
