I have "harvested" 48 fish babies from 2 of my demasoni females - they were FULL
They are now in 2 breeding boxes and the mothers only left their tank for 10 minutes, while I got the fry out. The first time I've tried that, and it went super, so I'm quite proud.

You should leave them with the mothers so they learn parental care. If they don't get looked after by their mother, they don't always look after their own young when they grow up and breed.

I know the dilemma - but I really want to have as many survivors as possible from this first batch, and I don't want to remove the mothers from their tank, so I'm hoping their parental instincts will kick in if/when they will have their own fry.

The new breeding tank - set up really quickly, so I didn't have any sand - but while they are in the breeding boxes I guess it's ok
