As I have said, I have 3 fresh water fish tanks. I also have 4 gourmis in which I have put several hours to let the thrive in their environment. But, I am getting a 75 gallon this summer, and I need to get rid of the tanks. I have 2 buyers already, but niether want the fish! I trust both buyers, so if they'd take them, I'd let them have the fish. But, like I said, Niether buyers want them. I wont just give them away to anyone, so what should I do. I dont wanna put an ad up unless its free. Should I give them back to the pet store, and let them deal with it? Or should I waste 100$ and put an ad in the paper?

i would definitely give them to a pet store that way you know they will be taken care of. :D

i know of pet stores that bought my moms friends fish so just call around, sorry i forgot to put that in my last post to you, i may not know to much about fish but i love mine and i know how to get rid of them when i have too :byebye:

:/
But, do some pet store flush them? They cant be re-sold can they?
I feel like an over-obsesive parent, but I just want the 60$ I spent on them to go to good use.

Ethos,
if you don't want money for your fish you could post them on a freecycle site.
Its a yahoo group, one for every area, if you do a google search you'll find the main site, which will link you back to one in your area, and give them away to good homes. you can choose who you give them away to on what knowledge they have on their emails. We recently did this and was very popular in our area.
Good luck

You could just post them here at the for sale/trade/buy section, whether you want money for them or not. And it really depends on the fish store, most will resell the fish, but then you have to deal with the fact that some idiot might buy them... It's really up to you.

a locally owned LFS would probably give you credit for them (just a tip: usually you can get more credit trading fish for fish than trading fish for goods)

a chain LFS may or may not be able to accept pre-owned fish and resell them. i've heard various reports from walmart flushing a perfectly healthy clown loach to petsmart only taking "donated" fish for no credit.

is there absolutely no way that you can put them in the new 75g? i've heard reports that gouramis do ok in groups of 6 or more... just worth mentioning.

Thanks for the options.......I have a couple months to figure out what I wanna do..........

IMO there will be PLENTY of hiding space for them to establish their own territories in the larger tank....BTW, what kind of gouramis are they anyhow that cost that much?

My local fish store is always more then willing to take in any fish that they can properly house and care for. I recently had to give up a pleco as he was getting to large. I was given a very nice RTBS that I picked out, so if you can I would try and swap them for other fish, and if thats not an option then just give them to a fish store that you know will resell them
