well i went out tonite and got :
2 blue rams
4 green cories
6 neons (1died before i got home)
1 common pleco (the rubberlip at the store had ich and i want something to get rid of my algae problem)

i will take pics tommorrow, but im still getting use to how to to take them better.

thats going to be alot of fish on ur bioload at once. what other fish do you have in the tank and how big is it?

Once again that is alot of fish to buy at one time

i hear that because i did a fishless cycle i can add my fish at once.
it is 40gallons, but i have my 10 gallon that i might be able to keep my neons in a week or so until the load calms down and add them back in? im just not sure what my 10gallon will do with that many fish for a week. it has 2angels,2cory,4neon,1oto (the angels are going away sometime soon, but will be there with the new neons if i put them in until the 40g is ok)

If you have a fully fishless cycled tank, just put them all in the 40g. No need to stress the smaller system.

That said, try to take the pleco back soon. He's gonna be huge and messy and you don't want a huge messy pleco in a 40g. The rams would simply die from the waste.

Good choice on the stocking otherwise.

Good luck!

yeah take the common back and get you a nice smallish pleco (like you said rubberlipped, or even a bristlenose or clown pleco) or even a school of otos since you've got the ram you'll have to be keeping up w/ water quality anyway so otos i don't think would be a bad addition.

I may have a clown pleco that you can have for free...

PSEUD- i PMed you and very interested !!

and sinse i got these fish i have been absolutely in love with my rams ! they are so colorful, is there a way that i can ahve two more in the tank?? I also was thinking that my angels might not be happy in the 10g so i wanted to put them in the 40 with my 2rams,4cory, and i might be getting a clown pleco so ill take out the common guy, and the neons will go in the 10g if the angels come in, so it will be 2rams, 2 small angels , 4 cory, 1 clown pleco ! ??

The angels will do better in the 40 gallon. You could keep the 10 gallon as a planted neon tank, with maybe a shrimp or two for the bottom layer. That'd be pretty neat.

As far as another pair of rams go, I think you'd be ok with two pairs in the 40 gallon with two angels, but i'm not a cichlid expert so you might wanna wait until someone else confirms it.

so i am looking to see if i can take out my neons and have in total:
2 small angels
2 blue rams
4 cories
1 clown pleco
couple rasboras? (dont know how to spell, if not that then some other schooling fish)

An angel/ram tank is a definite dream tank for me. I really hope you can do it. First, make sure the tank is tall enough for the angels. 18" high is really a minimum. Pterophyllum scalare don't get as "tall" as altums in general, btw.

If you want a schooling fish add a school. 6 small, calm schoolers like Harlequin rasboras or rummynoses would be perfect. They're small enough to not polute a lot, but big enough not to get eaten by the angels.

However, with this stocking plan, you're going to have to keep a strict water changing regimen. The rams will not put up with pollution and you'll be fully stocked and a pleco is a pleco (even if it's 4" long). Otos (or more corys instead?) would be a better addition.

Just some thoughts.

-ok i am going to get a clown pleco because they look so cool, so i am going to be change the water 25% every week?? how much water should i change and how often?

-also i saw some harlequins which i loved, so ill get 6 of them along with my 2rams, 2angels, 1 pleco and i think i will have an amazing tank with the new plants ! thanks for the help here

also -i wanted to get the mbuna which i love so much and will get setup once i can get a bigger place and have less expenses and more tanks !

also i just got home and noticed one of my neons had died! i checked my ammonia and it had rissen to .25 so i am going to do a 25% water change now.
