Hi,

I was looking in on my ADF's last night when I heard a sound. At first I thought my desk was giving in under the weight of the tanks that are on there. Then I listened some more. The sound was coming from the tank! Wow, my frog was calling for his mate! After I heard it the first time, I realized that I have been hearing it for a long time and I just didn't know what it was. It was so neat.

I must say though, thank goodness the frogs are in my home office and not in my room, I think the humming would drive me nuts!

Here is a pic of my little singer

Aren't they so cute when they sing? Mine are in my bedroom, about 4 feet from my bed. I listen to them all night. Amazingly, a person can learn to sleep through it like they can any old background household noise. It just takes time.

I could probably get used to it too. I spend the majority of my time in my office, that is why I have a 10g community, a 20g girlie betta tank, and 6 bettas in 5 tanks ranging from 1g to my 10g divided. I recently moved 2 adf's to my 5g with black beauty, my CT betta. That is when I heard the singing. Black Beauty loves the frogs, he sits with them all the time. Here is a pic I took of them together today.

That's adorable!

I looked in to my ADF tank once to find the resident male Super Delta laying sound asleep on the bottom with a frog tucked in on either side of him. I was laughing so hard that I woke them up, so I couldn't even get a picture of it.

For little guys, they sure can make a lot of noise! ;) I find it soothing though. :D

I thought mine were originally a malfunctioning remote control car. I did figure it out after a few nights, but I spent many a night in the early days of spring trying to figure out where that malfunctioning electronic was....

I'm even more jealous now!!!
Legally can't own or import such beautiful creatures into Australia. Can understand but such a shame to miss out on these special friends.

Oh my gosh - those little guys are ADORABLE!
And they curl up and sleep by the fish - how fun!!
I've heard of them jumping onto bettas and going for a ride....
which makes me think of that song that goes... "Ride, ride, ride... hitchin' a ride..."

My frogs do that. It's hilarious. It used to drive the female Bettas and Croaking Gouramis they USED to be housed with nuts at first, but then they got over it entirely and just let the frogs zip around with them across the tank. Not like they had a choice, really. The frogs seemed to hold on pretty well.

The male Betta they're with now has gotten smart. He just ducks out from under them. No rides for the froggies now!
