I Dont Know What To Do

Hi, I am super new to the site, but I am hoping someone can help me!
I have a male betta, have had him for a year and a half now, today I when I went to feed him he was acting weird. He keeps darting to the bottom of his tank, but then quickly floats back up to the top and ends up either kind of kinked up in an "s" shape or just floating on his side.
I dont know what could be wrong with him, and maybe just maybe he is on his way to fishy heaven... but I didnt know if you would have any suggestions... if so PLEASE HELP! thanks!

What are your water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate.
Darting poor water quality, overdose of med to parasites, even stray voltage.

does his tummy seem bloated? can you tell if hes been going potty? Sounds like it may be a swimbladder issue to me. Try fasting him for a few days and see if that helps. Swim bladder problems occur when a fishie gets constipated and it puts pressure on the swimbladder which is the organ that keeps the fishie swimming properly, so when he has problems with the swimbladder he starts swimming odd, vertical, has problems swimming upright. Hope this helps

ok, i changed his water, and i am going to fast him for a couple days and see what happens.

If not feeding him for a day or two doesn't help and he looks like his tummy is rounder then normal (but his scales are not stuck out like a pinecone) then try feeding him a cooked pea. Take a single pea - put it in water and in the microwave for a few (15 seconds or so) and take the skin off. Feed the "meat" of the pea to your fishie. If he's not constapated, he might have Ick. If he's trying to scratch himself against things, then it would be my guess. If you are able to shine a flash light on him and he has little flecks of gold - then that would be my guess. With out more of a discription is hard to pin point what might be wrong...

Actually ICK looks like white grains of salt all over the body, its velvet that looks like gold dust.
