I think I have posted about this on TFF before but I can’t remember, and I can’t remember if I ever found an answer.

Essentially the fish just stop working periodically. The fish still seems ‘all there’ as there is movement in the eyes and breathing but actual movement seems to shut down. Filter current just pushes the fish around the tank. Then after 10-20 seconds the fish comes back to normality. I have a couple of clips saved but I’m still getting fish acting like this. It’s only ever happened to my Sawbwa.

Found this interesting response. I can see the fish's actions relating to being startled as the most likely culprit. I don't tap on the tank, but a shadow can easily happen in that room where the tank is, as it's next to a big window.

There is a fish, I think it's either Cardinals or Amber tetras, that does this when shocked or when first added to the tank. I there something spooking your fish?

Nah. I'd propose a new trade name of Sawbwa, as the "Fainting Goat Rasbora".

In the meantime, you breed a few thousand, and you'll make your fortune with that name for them.
