Aggressive or Community? That is the question.

As most of you know, I am in the process of a fishless cycle in my 120 gallon. I have a community tank (29 gallon) and I love those fish to death. I also want to experiment having a more aggressive tank since I have the room for it.

Some of my fish in my 29 gallon have died due to a nasty nitrite spike. I have no idea how it happened but it managed to kill some of my fish. So now I have one albino cory and one green cory (that should be in a larger group) I have 2 glass cats that should be in a group of atleast 6. The others all died. I also have one german blue ram that has terrible stress bars due to his buddy dying. I also have 7 molly fry I am deeply attached to and really want to keep.

So...should I convert my 29 gallon to my 120 gallon to make my current fish more happy, or should I go with the chance of having my own albino oscar.

I am just SO confused. I love my fish so much and lately I've been looking at them in that 29 gallon...I just feel they would have so much more room in my huge tank. I hate when this happens. I had some of those fish in my 10 gallon when I first started out. I got sad that they were in such a small tank and I went out and bought them a 29 gallon. I now have a huge 120 gallon and feel like they should get first dibs.

What would you do?

well if your heart is set on the community fish,i would put themin the 120 and save up for discus cichlids and then make it a big planted tank,it would look awsome

I know you love the idea of the oscar, so I'd say go with that.

But personally.. I'd do a giant community.. imagine the fun in watching that tank!
You know whats more fun?

Big fish that have personality! If not Oscars, I'd say go with...a lot of Rams...gorgeous things those Rams are.

Ever looked into Exodons...hehe. I know what you are goin through tho, I had the same problem. Decided I loved my Oscar too much in the end!

She's already planning on 4 pairs of rams in the 120 if she goes community. At least I can remember what I read! :p

Ignore his Exodon obsession, Raechal.. they're ridiculously expensive, and like a smaller, more vicious piranha. If they're kept in groups smaller than 10-12, they'll kill each other.

I doubt you'd want to put that with anything other than itself..

I would make a discus and clown loach tank. Maybe have soem schools, its my dream....

but with an oscar, the tank would suck,i would only have oscars if i had a 1000 gal and could keep ten of them, then it would be fun,but with 2 oscars and a plecor another kind of cat,it would be just plain boring

Just go community wiht clown loaches, or go african cichlid with clown loaches. The choice is yours.

Well...I have made up my mind. I am going to add the fish from my 29 gallon into the 120 as soon as it cycles. Then later on add some clown loaches and fill out some of the current schools I have. I will definately be getting more blue rams as a center piece for my tank.

What do you think about some angels or is my tank not tall enough? I believe it is about 22-24 inches tall. Discus are colorful would they do well with community fish like mollies, loaches, blue rams, glass cats, neons? I don't really know much about them but I love their colors. I am just kind of scared of them because they are so...dicuss-y? :dunno:

How much are they anyway and how many should I get?

I agree a giant community tank would be great.... youre so lucky :p
Angels would do great in that size of a tank and would go along with the fish you mentioned good luck :D
