would the cyclind process be quicker if i ran the new filter in an old tank (along another fillter) for a few weeks before i put it in the new tank?
does it work

yes it would work. if you mean have 2 filters in your current tank then yes. it would mean the new filter that will be going into the new tank starts to build up some 'good' bacteria and therefore begins to cycle. however you would need to do this for a few weeks (5 or 6)

sorry if i have got the wrong end of the stick.

so if i started to cycle the filter before i put it into the other tank it would work or not ??? sorry but two compleetly different answers?

?

yes, i dont know what truck was on about!!!

it is called cloning the old tank.

well it would work no quicker than if you were adding ammonia to the new tank.

but using it in your old tank, you get the mulm from the filter you can pour onto the new substrate.

yeah, of course you can, as long as you have no diseases that is

i guess i complecated things with the mulm, ignore that bit then.
