Ok guys, I used to keep fish a few years ago and loved my Hobby. I can hosnetly say I kept fish for about 3 years and unlike my hamsters, guniene pigs, and so forth I never lost interset. I did truly enjoy it, like many of us do. So I know the basics of checking water levels like PH and so forth. However my last tankw as a community tank. I had a couple of guppies, cories, bala sharks, a beta, and a few tiger sharkz, and finally quite a few zebras. So now I want to deal with "bigger" fish.

I'm preparing to move into my new apartment and I would to get into fish and specifically cichlids because of their size. I want this tank to be a centerpiece of decor in my home. So it's gotta look nice which I can handle but what fish to put in is the question? I feel as if Cichlids are my answer for their a good size, I hear they have some nice colors and if you pickt he right ones fairly easy to keep.

Which is where my next point comes into play. I'm a car salesman and work 6 days a week 10-12 hour days. In fact some weeks I don't even take a week off so I can easily end up doing a 13-14 day week with 10-12 hour days. So I can't have anything high maintance.

Secondly i'm going to go with a larger tank anywhere from 250-350 liters used. Or about 65 gallons to about 92 gallons (i'm leanign towards 92 :)).

So my tanks etup as of now?

65-95~ gallons
Sand
Going to get a very good filteration system
Want it to be pretty (i'm spending a lot of $$$ here)

The fish I'd like?

variety of colors easy to maintain with low aggression also good size 5-8 inchs would be nice a fish.
I would also want a bottom feeder, i'm a fan of cories would those work int his tank?

Any advice would be great!

I don't think Rams would be low maintenance, although aggression would be low. Mbuna are easy to keep, and breed, but aggression is higher...

I was looking at the Blue Acaras and I actually liked them. Are they fairly aggresive or? I've also already looked into Rams, too high maintaince for me.

im not fully sure, i gather that it's not wise to be kept with small tetras, but i dont see why they'd have a go at cories

cories are usually universally accepted, in my experience

take a look at the aquidens genus, theres a few different ones as well as the acara

I would like to keep a shoal of cories I always found them to be interseting.

I was curious to what you would put in a 75-95 gallon tank if you wanted a fairly decent ammount of fish which happen to be colorful? Suggestions...

What type of smaller things would you consider? I'm heading to the fish storre this Thursday to check out what they got.

How about this setup on a 95 gallon tank

4 Blue Acuras,
6 Keyhole Cichlids
2 Angel Fish
4 Crown Loaches
4 Cories

What do you think?

O BTW I'm most likely going to end up doing a fishless cycle and introducing the fish over the course of a month

Your set up sounds fine, I personaly keep mbuna cichlids and I love them. I think they are so much more interesting to watch than my other FW tanks. Although they are aggresive they are perfectly fine in a species tank. They are extreamly hardy but require lots of powerful filtration for the amount of waste they produce. The good thing about mbuna is you can have a lot per gallon ratio (this helps reduce bullying). For example I have 18 fish in my 40 gallon.

Bronwee.

I have a blue acara and he is WONDERFUL. he is with 5 firemouths. The big thing is keep acars with a similar size fish and they'll be fine. also if you get a pair they can spawn once every two weeks or so.
