Hey, I'm new. My name is Atticus. but my friends call me Atti. I live in Mississippi, and became obsessed with fish-keeping a few years ago. My dad and I had a very large outdoor pond with about twenty comet goldfish. Our investment of twenty-seven cents a fish quickly turned into over forty beautiful goldfish roughly eight inches long and three inches around. After keeping our population up and after seeing several successful breedings, my father decided to re-marry, and he had to fill in our pond because my step-mother's dogs enjoyed chasing the fish. We gave them all to a friend with another large pond. In my first college dorm room I kept a five gallon with two kissing gourami and a fan tail goldfish. I knew very little about fish-keeping, and I was surprised when one gourami killed the other, and then the replacement gourami. I didn't keep them heated, but I was religious about cleaning the tank. After I moved back two-hundred miles away, I gave the tank with the remaining gourami to my step-brother, who also knew nothing about fish-keeping. I have that same tank with me now, and it serves as my sister's guppy tank. I've learned a lot since the pond and the first tank, but now I find that I spend about as much money a week on my fish as I do my three dogs (two dachshund mixes, one of whom is disabled, and a ten-year-old pit bull).

Aside from fish, I am also a writer. I'm in the middle of a novella and perhaps a "memoir" of sorts about my mental illness and how it affects me. I foster pit bulls (and I am in the market for a new puppy to fill in spot number four in the house!), and paint dog portraits to put gas in my car. I have linked my online shop in my profile, if anyone is interested. Though I am male, I do love knitting and baking. I know about one hundred separate ways to cook a zucchini. Anyway, I've got six fish tanks, and I am considering adding another one to cure my puppy fever, so I'm always up for chatting.

Hey attibones, welcome to the forum. Thanks for posting so much about yourself. Thanks also for putting your tanks and their stocking in your profile ( this helps so much, saves loads of time ). I'll give you a rundown of your stocking and my suggestions:

10 gallon: 2 albino cory catfish, 2 dalmatian mollies, 1 mickey mouse platy, ghost shrimp.- good but I'd up the number of cories to 5 and the mollies will need a 20 gallon tank soon
10 gallon: 1 male crowntail betta, two cremesicle mollies, 1 tiny balloon molly, two male guppies, ghost shrimp- good but again, mollies need a 20 gallon tank.
5 gallon: 1 male crowntail betta- great stocking
5 gallon: 1 jumbo neon tetra, three male guppies, ghost shrimp- I would put the tetra and guppies in the 20 gallon and up tetra numbers to 7
2.5 gallon: 1 male veil tail betta, ghost shrimp- id get a 5 gallon for the betta and keep about 10 shrimp in this tank
1.6 gallon: 1 male veil tail betta- id get a 5 gallon for the betta and keep about 5 shrimp in this tank
For tank number 6 I'd get a 20 gallon plus. This would be adequate for all your mollies, tetras and many other types of fish! Check on these forums before purchasing new fish to save stress of rehoming them!
Again, welcome to the forums and sorry for posting such a big chunk of writing! :)

Welcome Attibones hope you find the forum helpful!
That's a very lengthy location, TallTree01! lol

Howdy, and welcome.
No shame in a man baking, I joke with my wife that she married me for brownies, and my biscuits are better than her's.
Started to learn knitting years ago, but the old knuckles just get hurtin too much.
Good on ya with the puppies.
And I see you have found fishkeeping is an addiction.

Welcome to the forum! I hope you have a great time on the forum, and I'm glad your learning. Careful with spending too much money on fish as you can easily do that, and best of luck!
