Yes, my tank doesn't have a rim but I have it filled to within an inch of the top. After seeing this thread I'll add a vinyl rim to hide the top of the water.

I actually like the look of rimless tanks better, but that's just my opinion.

Edit: I guess rims do help hide calcium build up, above water.

And that line of condensation...... The tank has a one piece front and sides so the corners will be left alone.
