How's My Stocking?

Hello

Spent a while getting my tank in order and now at my stocking limit I think. I have a 94 litre tank with the following inhabitants

4 neons
4 cardinal tetra
6 x-ray tetra
4 Dalmatian mollies
1 betta (no problems with tetras fortunately!)
A few shrimp
And 1 L201 snowball pleco.

Is the stocking ok? Water stats are fine. Feeling like I'm missing a centerpiece fish! The pleco is lovely but the hiding place I made him is a bit too effective. If I rehomed the xrays would a gourami pair be ok in a tank this size or would I be overstocked?

Still quite new at this, learning so much from this forum though!

Your stocking's not too bad; I would always advise larger numbers of one species of shoaler, rather than less of more.

I would say you were fully stocked though, and in any case gouramis and bettas together is a no no; they're too closely related and tend to scrap.

Thanks. I didn't want to add any more tetras as I thought I was pushing it with the stocking. The cardinals and neons shoal together, but if any neons died I would replace them with cardinals. Had no deaths for ages though. They're all too healthy!

Personally, I think it its not over-stocked but more, badly stocked.
The Betta is not really a community fish in general, and I'd love to see that pleco is a slightly bigger tank. Also the Mollys do better in brackish water IMO. If you remove those, I'm sure you could find yourself some nice centrepiece fish.

I think the stocking is decent, bump the numbers of Tetra's to 6/8 a piece. I'd replace the Mollies though, they reach nearly 5" and are active swimmers so would do better in slightly bigger tank IMO. But you could replace these with something else, like a peaceful Barb of some sort... Cherry Barb possibly? As said a Gourami would not work with a Betta. Betta will be fine with those Tetra's.

This would be fully stocked IMO. Fully grown sizes taken into account.

6 Cardinal
6 X-rays
6 Cherry Barbs
Pleco.
Shrimp.

Thanks for all the advice. Love the mollies but I will rehome them if that's what's best. Came here for experienced advice so had better listen to it! I'll up the tetra numbers too, and look into the barbs. Don't know much about cherry barbs so will do some research

I would rehome the mollies and the neons personally... Then up your numbers of xrays and cardinals. I say rehome the neons rather than the xrays as they're similar in colour to the cardinals. I would set up a small 30-40 litre tank for the betta on his own and add a few shrimp in with him.

I would go with

10 Cardinals
8 X-Rays
2 Honey Gourami's
Pleco
Shrimps

But thats just me

Interesting idea! Would love another tank (reading threads/getting ideas on here is going to lead to MTS when money permits) but don't think the boyfriend will let me, kinda forced this tank on him! Wasnt too impressed at first. But he likes it now
