hi all
i have been breeding guppies for almost a yr now and i just can't get the female to carry the colour gen from their parents. do any1 know how i can improve or increase their change of getting the colour? i feed blackworm and flakes sometime bbs

o ya 1 more thing... those swallow or something guppy the 1 with long fin and tail... how do they get the gen of long fin and tail... is it a type of guppy that already has the gen or u mix breed them with something else?

You might have to study up on recessive and dominant genes.

Long finned genes are recessive, so they will only show if both parents have those genes. Lots of stuff to talk about, so to keep this short: certain fish won't pass on characteristics unless their mates possess the main characteristics. Certain characteristics will only occure 25-50% of the time, while others will be 100%. Certain colors might not show because the colors of the mate dominate.
