How To Remove Sealant

I've just got a bargain 55l tank but need to remove some silicone sealant from inside the tank and not sure how to get it off. Some of it I can hide with the filter and heater but there's a few lines of it that were holding a partition in place that need to come off.

It's a square tank so haven't decided what to put in there yet but want to get it ready to start cycling.

I've been attacking it with a stanley knife for a while and some of it's come off but there's some really stubborn bits. Hoped there would be an easier way to get it off.

google window scraper, only alternative after is to use chemicals which is a last option imo.

I'll try the window scraper tomorrow but not sure I'll need it, the background and gravel are black so the sealant's not showing up as much as I thought it would.

Not being rude, have you taken the blade out of the stanley knife? much easier that way, just go careful, also ensure you have a brand new blade..

+1, you want to take the blade out and use it flat on its side, the sealant will just slide off then, rather than hacking at it New blades stop scratches on the glass. (I assume this isnt an acrylic tank, and providing you dont dent the blade on anything first!)

just to add, a window scraper is basically a stanley blade horizontalluy with a handle to make things easier..saved me loads of time and pain when resealing tanks
